The Field Operations Division is the "backbone" of the Port
Arthur Police Department. Port Arthur Patrol
Officers are responsible for providing prompt, courteous service and
protection to the citizens of Port Arthur 24 hours-a-day, 7days a week,
365 days a year. Their duties include, but are not
limited to, preventing criminal
activity, responding to calls for service, conducting preliminary criminal
investigations, apprehension of criminals, traffic enforcement and
accident investigation. Port Arthur Police Officers work ten hour shifts and are assigned to certain
areas of the city called districts.
Port Arthur Police Officers are
gifted individuals with a wide range of talents and their job requires
them to be very flexible in dealing with citizens of all socio-economic backgrounds, and with the ever changing world of technological
advancement. Patrol officers maintain closer contact with the public than any other
division of the police department. Most
likely, the first person you will see when you are in need of the police, will be the patrol officer.
The men and women of the Port Arthur Police Department take great pride in serving the citizens of
Port Arthur.
