Memoriam To Those Officers Who Made The Supreme Sacrifice
This page is
dedicated to the Law Enforcement Officers of the Port Arthur Police Department
who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duties.
They have given there lives to protect and keep
each citizen safe from harm's way. May we never forget the sacrifice that each
has made. To their families and loved ones who survive we offer our consolation
and firmly believe that:
"In Valor…. There is hope."
"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

"A Part of America Died"
Somebody killed a policeman
today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was
a battle field too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
in your home town or in mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat
on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, of himself gave his all,
And A Part Of America Died.
A Policeman's Prayer
Oh Almighty God,
Whose Great Power And Eternal
Wisdom Embraces The Universe,
Watch Over All Policemen and
Law Enforcement Officers.
Protect Them From Harm
In The Performance Of Their Duty
To Stop Crime, Robberies,
Riots And Violence.
We Pray, Help Them Keep
Our Streets And Homes Safe
Day And Night.
We Recommend Them To
Your Loving Care
Because Their Duty Is Dangerous.
Grant Them Your Unending Strength And
Courage In Their Daily Assignments.
Dear God, Protect These
Brave Men & Women,
Grant Them Your Almighty
Protection,
Unite Them Safely With Their
Families After Duty Has Ended.
Amen.
